SCARE stands for Secondhand Costume Annual Redistribution Effort – a long name for a simple concept. We believe that all children deserve to enjoy the fun & magic of Halloween, but we also understand that sometimes, try as they might, families may have to prioritize essentials like food and shelter over a Halloween costume to be worn only a few times. We don’t want any child to ever feel left out or behind, and so SCARE was born.

Our mission is to provide loaned costumes to children of families in economic distress in the greater Nashua NH area. We do this by collecting used costumes and taking in donations to purchase new ones, sorting & organizing, and then redistributing them in October for children and families to enjoy. We collect them all again at the end of the season, clean and repair where necessary, and store them until next season when we send them out all over again.

We’re currently seeking volunteers, so please let us know if you’re interested!

If you’re strapped this Halloween, consider asking about a loaned costume from our supply. We’ll work with you to arrange pick up before and after Halloween, and can be as discreet as necessary.

We’re a brand new charity organization, so costumes are extremely limited – which means first come, first served until we expand. We’re doing our best to grow our costume closet for both children and adults, so the best way you can help is by spreading the word.

We’ll release more information soon, so make sure to like us on Facebook and sign up for email updates to be made aware as soon as we have that information available.
