Hello to all my fellow haunters, lovers of the macabre, and people who just love Halloween.  The cemetery gates to the horrors of Spookville will open at 7 pm on October 19th, 2018.

Experience the frightening sights and horrors of Spookville for yourself as you explore our haunt at NO COST .  However, feel free to pay-it-forward with a “bone-ation” to support the SCARE Costume Charity and sharing the magic that only Halloween can bring.

You will be able to locate Spookville at 1 Cheshire Street in Nashua, NH not too far from Nashua North.  The gates will be open to the public on the 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th from 7 – 9 pm.   And of course you will be welcome to visit us on Halloween night starting at 6 pm as well!

Hope to hear you scream!!

Hi there!

I’m Jesse, and I thank you for your interest in SCARE. I am an avid fan of most things Halloween and kind of a big kid at heart. I started this charity because I felt that everyone should have the opportunity to get dressed up and go out trick or treating on Halloween. So when I’m not building 3D models of places or trying to learn the next cool trend for haunted houses, I work to collect gently used costumes that can be reused to get kids and families out on Halloween, going door to door for candy. If you have ideas, questions, or you want to donate costumes, money, or even some of your time, you can always send us an email at scarenh@gmail.com.

Happy Halloween!

SCARE stands for Secondhand Costume Annual Redistribution Effort – a long name for a simple concept. We believe that all children deserve to enjoy the fun & magic of Halloween, but we also understand that sometimes, try as they might, families may have to prioritize essentials like food and shelter over a Halloween costume to be worn only a few times. We don’t want any child to ever feel left out or behind, and so SCARE was born.

Our mission is to provide loaned costumes to children of families in economic distress in the greater Nashua NH area. We do this by collecting used costumes and taking in donations to purchase new ones, sorting & organizing, and then redistributing them in October for children and families to enjoy. We collect them all again at the end of the season, clean and repair where necessary, and store them until next season when we send them out all over again.

We’re currently seeking volunteers, so please let us know if you’re interested!

If you’re strapped this Halloween, consider asking about a loaned costume from our supply. We’ll work with you to arrange pick up before and after Halloween, and can be as discreet as necessary.

We’re a brand new charity organization, so costumes are extremely limited – which means first come, first served until we expand. We’re doing our best to grow our costume closet for both children and adults, so the best way you can help is by spreading the word.

We’ll release more information soon, so make sure to like us on Facebook and sign up for email updates to be made aware as soon as we have that information available.

Donation Locations

Our first location set up to the general public is at a new local business called Live Free Chiropractic.  They are located at 383 E Dunstable Rd, Nashua, NH 03062 which is the plaza in front of the Lilac Blossom restaurant off exit 1.  They have an ambitious goal of 300 costumes and it would be great to be able to help that many more people this year.  While you are there, talk to the awesome staff about how to fix the problem instead of just treating the symptoms.

If you have other locations you would like to suggest we try, please contact us and let us know.  We want to make it convenient for both donations and for returns once Halloween is over for this year.

Volunteer Opportunities

SCARE is a brand new organization, still out for its first go around the neighborhood candy bowls, so to speak. This means we have ample opportunity for volunteers, and near limitless room to grow. Below are some roles and situations where you could lend a hand (or claw), and we’ll be adding to this list as roles are filled and more open up. Check back regularly, and make sure to follow us on Facebook and sign up for email updates to always get the news first.

We’re currently accepting help in a variety of roles:

Drop off locations for collection boxes
Street Team members
Avenues to promote and advertise
Bodies to help distribute and pick up (during October)
Individuals passionate to help grow and expand our efforts

and more roles as they become available!

If you want to volunteer, or have an idea to help us grow, please reach out!
